Xiropigado

One of our dream properties this year is at the Mediterranean seafront site of Xiropigado, the Peloponnese.

Xiropigado is a small fishing town, on the north cost of the Argolic Gulf, eastern Peloponnese. It belongs to the Prefecture of Arkadia, counting around 500 inhabitants and many more avid visitors.

This exquisite stretch of coast along the Argolic Gulf was selected for its:

Seafront Location

Xiropigado is an inspiring site with lacelike coasts. Coves with sand or pebbles are backed by hills sprawling with silver-green olive groves and a variety of flowers. The natural setting is complemented by the pretty paved walkway along the beach, especially when the lamplights are lit in the evenings.

Graced with the gentle Mediterranean breeze of the seashore, this small town is favoured among its fans as the ideal place to chill out. Charming houses are sparsely built on the hillsides or, for the privileged few, along the beach, boasting an amazing view across the Argolic Gulf and over the hilly landscape. And if the blissful serenity of the scenery alone does not manage to put the wound up city crowd into a relaxed mood, the stunning sunsets during summertime do the trick unfailingly.

Proximity

With loads of cultural and natural heritage in the neighbourhood, Xiropigado is within easy reach of places of singular interest. It is only a short drive from Nafplion, a historical town that has become a byword for romance. Sightseeing excursions to Mycenae, with its magnificent Bronze Age civilisation, and Argos, the oldest city in Europe, take only a short drive from the village. You may also arrange a visit to Hellinikon, to see the earliest pyramid of the European mainland. Another option not to be missed is the Ancient Epidaurus Theatre. Its astonishing acoustics can be observed in the enthralling cultural events it hosts in the summer.

Alternatively, a longer expedition to the cave of Dyros, southern Peloponnese, will compensate you with one of the most exciting natural monuments in Greece. This impressive site with stalagmites and stalactites also accommodates the fossil remains of an early species of panther and other animals.

On a more practical note, you can access all useful services for the public (bank, post office, health centre, etc.), commercial transport and other amenities in the neighbouring town of Astros, some 6 miles away.

Quality Tourism

Undoubtedly, Xiropigado qualifies as the bolthole for those seeking to escape the grip of the big cities’ frenzy. In addition to sightseeing and taking part in cultural events in the Peloponnesian neighbourhood, you can let the serenity of the setting help you rediscover the value of natural living.

Here, you can indulge with a daily swim in the deep blue Mediterranean sea or set off for mountain hikes on the lovely hillsides. Plus, a large variety of local produce will help you detox: top quality olive oil and tasty olives, honey, fresh oranges and other fruit, seasonal vegetables and wine.

Local businesses are small, but comprehensive and typically hospitable. Taverns take excellent care of the hungered ones, with real treats of fresh fish and house delicacies made of local produce. A couple of coffee shops are ideal for the laid-back moments of the day. In addition, a handy supermarket and two mini markets will provide you with the day’s groceries. Add to that the local bus for transportation and you won’t be missing a thing of the kind of life you are used to.

Value for Money

While sharing the fabulous setting of the best part of the Peloponnese, unlike other hot destinations in the area, Xiropigado remains yet to become commercialised. Meanwhile, properties are low-priced, offering excellent value for money and substantial capital gains potential in the short run.
